The chorus to one of my favourite songs says, Lead me, Lord, I will follow Lead me, Lord, I will go You have called me I will answer Lead me, Lord, I will go.
This song speaks to following Jesus where He leads. It speaks of total trust in His ways and in His leadership. It denotes a willingness to follow and to be led by He, who is.
What does a willingness to follow Him entail?
▪To follow Him is to love Him
▪To follow Him is to trust Him
▪To follow Him is to obey Him
▪To follow Him is to believe in Him
▪To follow Him is to freely give
▪To follow Him is to fully live
Deuteronomy 13:4 says, "It is the Lord your God you must follow, and Him you must revere. Keep His commands and obey Him; serve Him and hold fast to Him".
Therefore, in order to follow Him we need to stay close to and be connected to Him. His Word is a sure way of doing this, as it shows us how we must behave as followers of Christ. If we want to follow Him in our Father's footsteps, we must do what He says we must do. It means that we must desire for Him to Lead us above all else; not our will but His be done. The old self must make way for the new, to reflect the One leading us. So today, with conviction say, "Lord, where You Lead Me, I will follow".
Lord God, thank you for choosing us as Your own. We desire You to lead us daily as we strive to keep Your commands, obey You, serve You and hold fast to You. Amen!
