Jesus At The Center Of It All

Jesus At The Center Of It All

I don't know how God speaks to you, but He speaks to me in various ways; more often than not it's through songs. We often sing the song, "Jesus at the center of it all, Jesus at the center of it all, from beginning to the end, it's always been you Jesus, Jesus. Nothing else matters, nothing in this world will do..." with much vigor and lots of emotion.

But...Is He?

Is He the center of it ALL? We sing it, but in reality, oftentimes, we are at the center of us; of it all. Right?

Oh ok, let me speak about myself. Honestly speaking, He is not always at the center of it all for me. It is sometimes a case where self takes center stage. My wants, my needs, my desires are about me and Christ features prominently in meeting my desires. Now this is not the ideal as a follower of Christ. Consequently it leads me to repentance, asking for forgiveness and realigning with the proper order of things, Christ at the Center.

What Does Christ at the Center Look like?

Christ at the center means a denying of self and those fleshly things; reflecting who He is. Therefore, we must be intentional about what we think, say and do, and challenge ourselves daily by asking, 'Does this reflect Christ?'

▪We must kill flesh and leave the former things behind to reflect our new nature.

2 Corinthians 5:7 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

▪Love others as He loves.

John 13:35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

▪Tell others about Him.

Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

In essence, the focus must be shifted from being self-centered to being Christ-centered.

Prayer:

Father, we know that sanctification is a life-long process and that at times we struggle to keep CHRIST AT THE CENTER. Though we sin and fall short of Your righteousness, we readily confess our transgressions. We repent of the many times we made it all about us and vow to strive daily to reflect what being a disciple of Christ looks like. Shape our will, thoughts, speech and actions to Yours; let us not only say that You are at the center but live Christ-centered lives.

In Jesus Name! AMEN
