IF YOU LOVE ME...

Fill My Cup and Let it Overflow

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

Actually, let me show you, rather than count the ways.

How do you need to be loved? Have you figured it out as yet? Trust me, you haven’t felt as 'warm and fuzzy' as you could, until the people closest to you have signed on to love you how you NEED to be loved.

For me, it’s Words of Affirmation and Acts of Service. A prime example is this morning just after 3am, my husband rolled over and whispered to me that he loved me and was proud of me. Then for the jackpot, he got up out of our warm bed and made me a cup of tea, just the way I like it. Shortly after, he prepared my desk for me to write this piece at 4am.

I am full. My cup runneth over!

Well actually, it’s almost empty; tea doesn’t stay long in any cup of mine!

Similarly, God has His own love language. Previously, I shared that God’s love language is His Word. If we love Him, we first show it by spending quality time with Him in His Word. Once we are lovingly wrapped up with Him in His word and looking full in His wonderful face, He cuddles us and reveals His innermost thoughts to us. God’s Word clearly shows us how He wants to be loved.

John 14:15 “If you love Me, keep My commands.”

It’s that simple [not easy], if you love God, express it how He wants to be loved. Obedience!

You don’t have to dig too far in the Bible to find examples of love for God expressed in Obedience.

In the Old Testament:

Noah - Built a boat in anticipation of rain.

Noah and his family were saved from the great flood.

Genesis 6:8-22

Abraham - Ready to sacrifice his only son on Mount Moriah.

He was promised and received generations through this son.

Genesis 22: 1-13

Three Hebrew Boys - Obeyed EVEN IF their God didn’t save them.

They did not bow and they did not burn!

Daniel 3:1-30

In the New Testament:

Mary (mother of Jesus) - A virgin pregnant by the power of the Holy Spirit.

She bore the Son of the Most High - Jesus.

Luke 1:26-35

Simon Peter - Left all he knew to follow Christ.

He was promoted from fisherman to fisher of men.

Matthew 4:18-22

Saul of Tarsus - A Pharisee, called to sacrifice a life of prestige.

He was converted to a chosen vessel of Christ.

Acts 9:1-9,15

Love God how He asked to be loved; in Obedience. Our Obedience will make room for Christ.

John 14:23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves Me will obey My teaching. My Father will love them, and We will come to them and make Our home with them.

Oh fill it up

Fill my cup and let it overflow

Let it overflow with Love [& Obedience]
