God Loves A Cheerful Giver

As God continues to build us into a mature church and community, one of the things He commands us to do is to Give. This does not only apply to giving to the church, but to giving as the church. Each of us has been commanded to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, but cheerfully.

2 Corinthians 9:6-9

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: "They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever."

As believers, we are called to be imitators of Christ. Our ultimate goal and purpose in life, is to be more like Him. He is the only standard by which we measure ourselves. There has never been and will never be, another human being as generous as Jesus.

His limitless love for us and obedience to the Father, drove Him to do the most generous act in all history. He gave us something of infinite value - something only He could give. He gave us something we all needed and without it, we would all perish - His life.

John 10:18

The reason the Father loves Me is that I lay down My life in order to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from My Father.”

John 15:13

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

Jesus readily, willingly and cheerfully gave His life, so that we who were dead in our sin, can have life. Even when agonizing over His mission in the Garden of Gethsemane, we saw that ultimately, nothing brought Jesus more pleasure, than doing the will of the Father. Matthew 26: 36–56

I encourage you to also give cheerfully of all the Lord has blessed you with. Use your gifts, talents, finances, home, vehicle, information, or anything else you have, to build up the body and glorify God.

Have a blessed and beautiful WAR Wednesday!
